I've been on my summer vacation since August 1st, but the start of it wasn't really the best. My dear boyfriend, whom I've been seeing since June 19th, left Finland for 3 weeks to spend his vacation with his family living in Turkey.
Last week I had my winter holiday, and I travelled to northern Finland, to a city called Oulu. I have relatives living there, and I travelled there by car with my grandpa and mum.
I had a splendid time there. It's been about 1,5 years since I last visited the place and my relatives; I usually go there every summer, but since I had to work last summer, I didn't have time. So, it was wonderful to visit the places and stay over people I love.
The week seemed to go by so fast... Suddenly it was Sunday morning, and I was sitting in a train, on my way back home. It was sad, since I would have wanted to stay a little longer... Having to go back to work on Monday wasn't at all nice, but I have overcome it. :P I hope I can see my beloved relatives again soon!
The pattern (Poomsae in Korean) tournament in Kokemäki is now happily over, and I have to say that I had so much fun there with my friends!
Jari Tattari participated in 2 different series, and he did very well. In Male General he was 11th, and in Male Blue-Red Belters he was 3rd.
I participated in 3 series. In Female Blue-Red Belters, I was 11th.
Me and Linda Kindt (my dear friend) were 5th in Upper Pairs.
Me, Linda Kindt and Mari Aalto were also in group poomsae series, and we got second!
Getting second was a huge and pleasant surprise to all of us. We just couldn't expect to be placed second, even though our points were good. Being rewarded with silver medals was a wonderful peak to the day!
As the Head of our team, I must say that I'm very proud of everybody. We all did our best there, even though the day was awfully long. The team work between us girls worked perfectly, and the whole team of ours had the best spirit I've ever experienced personally.
I'm looking forward to the next competition! Luckily it will take place in few weeks. :)
One of my friends really made my whole week today.
For the past week I've suffered from a terrible migraine. One of the causes to it has been a Taekwondo tournament, which will take place tomorrow in Kokemäki. It's a town in South-West Finland, about 250 km (3 hours of driving) away from my hometown Nurmijärvi.
The tournament is going to be very exciting, but the thing that has been stressing me out this week was that I was supposed to drive my team there. I love driving, don't get me wrong, but when I have to drive to a far-away location I don't know well, I get very anxious...
Then, today, I found out that one of my friends, who has a car and a GPS-navigator, wanted to go and drive us there! You can't imagine the euphoric feeling that swoop over me, when I heard this!
Thanks to him, I can now fully concentrate to my own performance in the tournament as a competitor and the Head of our team, and also enjoy the trip much more in whole.
Well, it's going to be very long day tomorrow, so I guess I'm off to bed now. I have to get up at 5:30 a.m., and I guess I'm back home somewhere around 11 p.m.
So, good night to all of you! :)
As a new Vox user, I probably should introduce myself... :)
My name is Niina, and I'm a 19-year-old (going on 20) girl from Finland.
In my family, there are 3 people. I live with my mom and my little sister, but my father lives quite near us. My parents divorced a year ago.
I graduated from Senior High school last December, and now I'm working as an assistant in a Swedish-speaking nursery school. It's a really cool job!
My hobbies include Taekwondo, belly dancing, jogging, driving, writing short stories and a novel, singing, painting and reading. In other words, I spend very little time at home doing nothing... :D
Taekwondo is the biggest passion in my life. I've practised for 4 years now (I have a second degree blue belt), in a team called Hwarang TKD Nurmijarvi. It's the best team ever - my coaches and fellow practitioners are so wonderful! They're like a second family to me.
Well, I guess this is enough for an introduction. More about me and my daily life in writings to follow... :)
